The 7 Deadly Work From Home Sins and How to Avoid Them

Do you know what the hardest thing is about working from home?

Self discipline.

When you’re out of the house working at a job and you have a boss, it’s easy to keep working, because you have to.

But working from home is so different because not only do you not have a boss or any deadlines to meet, but you also have so many things to distract you like dogs to walk, groceries to buy, dishes to wash and even glorious weather that distracts you from getting your work done.

It’s all too easy to put your work last on your “to do” list and let yourself get distracted by things that seem more important.

It’s also difficult to get any work done if you’re not sure what it is you want to do. It’s OK knowing that you want to work from home on your laptop computer, but you need to have a plan and be able to work from it and know what it is you want to achieve.

There is also the problem of critics. When you first set up your own online business you’ll find that everyone you know is a critic and will think you’re mad for wanting to quit your job and go it alone. So you just have to learn to thank them for their advice and then ignore them.

And do you know who your biggest critics will be? Your family. But don’t let them get you down.

They’re not bad people. They just don’t want you to change from who you already are. Just keep working. Keep doing your best work and believe in yourself.

To help you, below is a list of what I call The 7 Deadly Work From Home Sins, and falling for any of them can cause you to give up. But if you know what they are you can avoid them.

Here are the 7 things you must NOT do:

1. Put your work last on your “to do” list.

2. Listen to critics (especially your inner critic)

3. Listen to complaints from family members.

4. Work without a plan.

5. Have only long-term goals. Shorter goals help motivation.

6. Produce anything except your best work.

7. Stop believing in yourself.

Remember that you need to keep moving forward in your business every day.

Your goals can and will change along the way, but that’s OK.

Keep up with technology and use it to work smarter not harder.
