The Writing Debate: Handwrite or Write Straight to Keyboard?

I've been doing quite a bit of writing lately since I bought my new 'uni-ball AIR' pen. I got it from the local newsagents and it cost $4.95 which is a lot for just one pen.

Why would I pay so much for one pen? Because it writes really smoothly so it needs no pressure to write with.

Plus I like to have nice things to write with or nice notebooks to write in.

I always like to write by hand first so I use a lot of notebooks and pens or pencils.

Usually I write with my propelling pencil because just like my new pen, it takes no pressure to write with it, I don't have to sharpen it and it never gets too small to write with.

I used to wonder if it wouldn't be quicker to write straight to keyboard, but no matter how many times I try it, I'm not comfortable writing that way plus I'm less creative so I easily get bored with what I'm writing.

So I'm better off writing by hand first because although it's slower than writing straight to keyboard, I write more this way because I'm always reluctant to open my laptop and start writing that way.

So how I see it, is that writing slower by hand is far more productive than writing nothing on the keyboard. As long as I'm writing, I'm working and moving forward.

And because I'm a fast typist, it doesn't take me long to transfer my work onto the computer.

So if you're just like me and you're not sure whether to write by hand first or write straight to the keyboard, just write.

It doesn't matter how you write, only that you do.

And that you do it every day.
